AI in In Parallel

Chat helps you understand current Workspace context without leaving In Parallel. Start from Home, open a separate conversation, or ask about the page you are viewing.

## Choose where to start

| Starting point | Use it for |
| --- | --- |
| **Home** | Start a personal Chat or choose a suggested action |
| **Ask about this page** | Open the contextual composer from the page and check its visible Workspace context |
| **The chat bar** | Ask a quick question from the bottom of a page without leaving it |

Your recent conversations appear under **Recent chats** in the navigation.

## Start from Home

Home opens as a Chat window with **Ask anything**, **Add context**, and suggested actions. Current suggestions can include **Morning brief**, **Triage decisions**, and **What changed**.

Enter a request directly or select a suggestion. Home can also show a shortcut when a notification or scheduled output is ready. When the current Home experience is enabled, **Browse** provides shortcuts to recent Workspaces, past meetings, and Topics.

## Continue in the full Chat view

After you send a request from Home or select a suggested action, the conversation opens in the full Chat view. Continue with a follow-up in the composer.

### Add context when it will improve the answer

Select **Add context**. You can search the available context or choose from the controls shown for your account:

- **Attach files**
- **Workspaces**
- **Tags**

In the rest of the product, Tags are presented as **Topics**. Select a Workspace or Topic when your request should stay within that boundary. The selected item appears as a context chip beside the composer.

Attach a document only when it is appropriate to share that file with In Parallel. The presence of the attachment control does not guarantee that every file type or account configuration is supported.

### Check the context before you send

Context changes the scope of the answer. Check the chip before an unqualified request such as “What is at risk?” or “Summarize this.” Remove a chip when you want the next question to use a different scope.

## Ask from the chat bar on any page

**Meetings** and other content pages show a chat bar at the bottom of the page. It is the same composer as Home, with **Ask anything** and **+** for adding context. A Workspace’s home page has its own composer with the Workspace already added as context.

1. Type your question in the bar.
2. Press **Enter** . The chat opens as a popup in the corner of the page and sends your question.
3. Continue the conversation in the popup, or close it and keep working on the page.

When you have a recent conversation, the bar shows it as a chip. Sending from the bar continues that conversation. Select **✕** on the chip (**Remove chat from context**) to start a new conversation instead. Pressing **Enter** in an empty bar opens the popup without sending anything.

## Arrange the chat window

The chat can appear as a popup in the corner of the page or pinned to the side of the page. Open the display menu in the chat header (**Change chat display**) to switch between them.

| Option | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Pop up** | Shows the chat as a popup in the corner of the page |
| **Pin to side** | Docks the chat as a panel on the right side of the page |
| **Minimize** | Folds the chat away; select **Restore chat** to bring it back |
| **Open as full page** | Opens the conversation in the full Chat view |

### Resize the popup

Drag the popup’s left edge, top edge, or top-left corner. The popup keeps its size while you work, including after you minimize and restore it. It returns to its default size when you reload the page.

### Drag the popup to the side

1. Press and hold the popup’s header, then start dragging. A **Pin to side** target appears on the right side of the page.
2. Release over the target to pin the chat as a side panel. Release anywhere else and the popup returns to its corner.

Pinning or popping out the chat keeps the conversation, your place in it, any text you were typing, and any attached context. Select **Pop up** in the display menu to turn the side panel back into a popup; it returns at the size you left it.

## Ask about a Workspace page

Open the relevant Workspace page and use its composer, **Ask about this page**. The page appears as a context chip. Check that chip before asking a focused question such as “What is missing from this runbook?”

For a focused handoff to another AI tool, use **Send to AI** or its preferred-assistant label instead.

On a Context page, **Review the context** starts a dedicated review conversation. The assistant checks the available context and asks what still holds or needs to change. See Review your Workspace Context.

## Ask about a recorded meeting

Open a meeting that has processed Notes. In **Ask about this meeting**, enter a focused question, such as “What decisions did we make, and what do I need to follow up on before Friday?”

Chat opens with the meeting attached as context. Check the meeting name in the context chip. Read the answer and open its source links to check the relevant decisions or follow-ups. You can continue with another question in the same Chat.

## Find and manage conversations

Open **Recent chats** to search conversation history. Switch between **Active** and **Archived** conversations, then use a conversation’s actions menu to manage it.

The **Active** and **Archived** views help separate current conversations from older ones. Available actions can vary; read the confirmation before changing or deleting a conversation.

## Check important answers

- Chat uses only context you are allowed to access.
- Added context narrows a turn; it does not make generated text authoritative.
- Open source links before acting on a consequential claim.
- If an answer is too broad, add one Workspace or Topic and ask again.
- If a maintained page shows a failed refresh, verify the answer against its source records.
